As part of the ongoing DING >> DONG exhibition at FACT (Foundation for Art and Creative Technology) in Liverpool, The Wire’s Simon Reynolds (author of ‘Bring The Noise’, ‘Rip It Up and Start Again‘, ‘Energy Flash’) will be hosting a talk on evolving threads in UK electronic dance music.
[From The Wire site] “Simon Reynolds will outline his theory of a Hardcore Continuum, a thread linking the UK’s rapidly mutating genres of electronic dance music – from hardcore rave to Jungle, Speed Garage to 2step, Grime to bassline and beyond – through a set of shared influences, including Jamaican sound system culture, digital technology, drugs and pirate radio”.
The talk will be illustrated by classic tracks, and will be followed by a discussion between Simon and Mark Fisher, The Wire’s Acting Deputy Editor, plus an audience Q&A session.
