Groove Sanctury happens every Sunday nite at Madame JoJos in the heart of gay Soho. It’s run by Jimbo Robins aka Raw Deal whose hard work and determination has ensured that there’s one night every week where you can get your groove on. Over the past few months he’s teamed up with Paris DJ and dancer D-Lo and together they came up with the idea of a house dance competition. The 2nd one happened in late October and the vibe was nice. Amazing to see so many kids getting down to Afefe Iku’s ‘Mirror Dance’, some funky house cuts as well as a host of deeper, more soulful or afro house joints. Even the vibe out the front of the club was exciting, as lots of teenage kids giggled and gossipped about the different dancers who they knew by name. All dressed in fresh sportswear, it’s like they’d come straight from dance classes to get down and party. Dance is definitely back in the capital. Just go and check this nite. Big up Jimbo, D-Lo and all the dancers.
