Sofrito con Quantic – Tropical Warehouse Special!
Saturday 6th March, New East London Warehouse Venue, 10 – very late….
For their first party of 2010, the Sofrito collective (Hugo Mendez, Frankie Francis) have got their hands on an amazing new warehouse space in the heart of Dalston – two rooms of DJs and live acts playing the best in hot Tropical dancefloor rhythms!
First off, they’ve enticed the one and only Quantic away from his Colombian hideaway to share his unrivalled selection of Tropical sounds!
As well as an exclusive DJ set he is flying in a few days early to prepare a unique live collaboration with Sofrito favourites Family Atlantica – showcasing the raw Costeño sounds of Colombia and Venezuela in a one-off live performance!
On top of that, the amazing 11-piece afro funk phenomenon that is Drymbago will be playing live – and of course your hosts Sofrito Soundsystem and MC Kwasi will be representing the best tropical sounds in London…
As if that wasn’t enough, Nick the Record will be touching down for a rare set of Tropical boogie, and Dalston’s own Perilous will be supplying some deep Studio One sounds, covering a world of great music on one special night!
There will be the usual Sofrito Punch – this time supplied by the lovely people at El Dorado – truly a rum of champions….
To get you in the mood for this celebration these muchachos locos have knocked up a mix of some of their current dancefloor favourites – giving you a taster of the fun to come! The mix takes in sounds from Trinidad, Colombia, Guadeloupe and Angola plus an exclusive track from Quantic’s new Sonido del Valle project!
Tickets for the party are just £10 in advance (plus £1 booking fee) and are available from the Sofrito website here…
