Kode9’s DJ Kicks has been my alarm clock for much of the summer, his rapid fire blend of mostly bass music proving an effective wake up. Entering after Morgan Zarate’s impeccable M.A.B, track #17 has prompted untold repeated reloads. The said song: Rozzi Daime’s Dirty Illusions, bringing a sprinkle of Sa-Ra-ish Intergalactic She-Rock to the mix. Early last week, Miss Daime dropped her new mixtape.

Having appeared as a kid on Spike Lee’s poster for Do the Right Thing, the mixtape art’s a homage to her pose from back in the day. DJ Tabone ties the tracks together for an hour + 1/4 of extraordinary soul (even West End Girls features!). Now, is it time to dig out Dark Matter & Pornography?

Brilliant review!...
Version of S/D/Mofo was unhinged; definitely not ponderous. It was crazy, dirty, wrong...
Stunning photo, whoever took that must really know what they're doing. Oh, good tracks ...
