Although not a brand new offering, this mini-doc was sent across to me the other day and is just too good not to share. NPR Music over in the states are responsible for putting up this dope clip, The History Of The Boombox.

Hosted by photographer and ‘boombox connoisseur’ Lyle Owerko and the one and only Fab 5 Freddy, the pair respectively offer up the studied and experienced social importance of this icon of the streets and hip-hop, up to it’s demise in the present day.

Best of all are the drool-worthy shots of some of the classic ‘boxes, including a graphic of the original 8-track boombox.

If anyone’s got any sites or pics with more of these classic pieces please feel free to share, would be great to see more.
Now if you’ll excuse me I’m off to see if I can swap one for my Iphone.

Brilliant review!...
Version of S/D/Mofo was unhinged; definitely not ponderous. It was crazy, dirty, wrong...
Stunning photo, whoever took that must really know what they're doing. Oh, good tracks ...
