Officially out today on Awkward Movements, in all good physical and digital store, comes the Science & Romance EP from Chairman Kato. Four track vinyl release featuring remixes from Ekoplekz and Andres, accompanied with a six track digital.

Chairman Kato is what happens when you take the summery head-nodding rhythms of L.A and Detroit and move them to the dark realms of London clubs. It’s a dark house aesthetic but at a hip hop tempo, with it’s slow steady 4×4 kicks and gradual builds, Kato makes those tunes where you’re sat on the edge of your seat waiting for one hi-hat to drop in. It’s all washed over with a huge amount of atmospherics and found sounds, crafted melodies made from metallic synth scapes. I don’t think there is a better word other than hypnotic, be warned you’re likely to find yourself hanging on every bar of these tracks.
