London’s Disco fraternity has come together to support the aid effort in Japan with a night of music from some of Disco music’s most knowledgeable entertainers. London regulars Horse Meat Disco headline the mainroom, along with Bad Passion Project’s Chris Stoker, Andy Bainbridge and Dan Mitchell. In room 2 it’s a connoisseurs’ treat with Idjut Boys, Gerry Rooney, of Black Cock fame, and Brighton’s record dealer to the stars Nick The Record providing the music. Most importantly, all the performers and the venue are donating their services for free to ensure all money received goes towards helping those in Japan. Minimum donation is a paltry £7 via the just giving page.

Subeena, of Planet Mu fame, will be presenting Circle Traps at the Gramaphone in Spitalfields on April 7th. Circle Traps is a side project by Jack Wyllie and Duncan Bellamy of Portico Quartet, and their friend Will Ward. Early indications are that this will be a fascinating new project from some very talented instrumentalists who picked up numerous awards and accolades as Portico Quartet. Support comes from Damu, Will Ward, Punchcutter and Subeena herself. More info here.

Later he went on to work with James Murphy on DFA, and produced early releases by The Rapture, The Juan Maclean, and Hercules & Love Affair. His solo remixes as The Loving Hand, for acts like Moscow and Joakim, have produced some of the most captivating music of recent years.

Lostbahnhof – A trio of DJs with diverse approaches to music, who have welcomed guests like Tobias Thomas, Nadia Ksaiba, Neville Watson, In Flagranti, Oliver Ho and Mr. Beatnick to their nights over the past few years and whose recent appearances at clubs like Cable mark a new recognition.
In Flagranti (Kitsune, Codek) Visit Life Bar in London tomorrow night

Europe’s foremost peddlers of 70’s – 80’s musical smut and hardened record diggers In Flagranti join us for a rare up-close and personal appearance on Life Bar’s custom-built audiophile soundsystem beneath the Life Sushi Restaurant, aka the best (and only?) venue left in London.

In Flagranti, and their record label CODEK (founded in New York in 1996), are widely credited with pioneering the re-discovery of the Italian cosmic scene from the late 70’s early 80’s, the cosmic disco sound that has swept the dance music landscape over the past 5 years. Their DIY attitude has made them favourites amongst DJs like Soulwax, Erol Alkan, Trevor Jackson and Ivan Smagghe, and their remix portfolio has included work for seminal labels like Permanent Vacation, Service, and Erol Alkan’s own Phantasy Sound. The CODEK sleeve design, an important part of the whole aesthetic, has been called by Wire Magazine “the best in the business”, with its expertly sourced images of golden-era silk-screened Americana.

Most importantly In Flagranti know how to bring the party and riding on the back of their recent single “Ex Ex Ex” they are bound to shake the building to its rafters!

A few advance tickets available from http://www.residentadvisor.net/lostbahnhof

MVSICA is a new limited CD project from Fine Art Recordings

MVSICA is a new limited CD project from Fine Art Recordings featuring downtempo music from techno producers. The CD packaging features a design that is uncovered by scratching off the surface, using a specially supplied yellow coin.

Nitzan Hermon, Fine Art head honcho, commented:

“The design concept was a cover that would evolve with time, very much like the music on the CD. Most of the art (including the track list) is covered with scratch off surface, on hard laminated paper(to ensure the material is not scared by scratching). The CD comes with its own plastic counter that can be used, as oppose to coins, which are often dirty.”

This CD is strictly limited to 200 copies, and can be purchased from here.

Playlist:

1. Fabric Lig – Cosmic Booty

2. Fabrice Lig – Cosmic Booty(Stevie Kotey remix)

3. Lerosa – Calliope

4. Cusmos – Jazzdub

5. Ichikiwa(aka Michael Fakesch) – Cthree

6. Jens Loden – First one(Orlando Voorn birds and bees remix)
